What You Don't Change, Changes You
What you don't change, changes you. We often treat avoiding something as if we are choosing to leave it where it is — but nothing stays exactly where we leave it. This month, I am writing about the difference between awareness and action, where confidence actually comes from, and why leadership sometimes means making a hard decision about our own lives. As July comes to a close, I challenge each of us to identify one thing we have been avoiding and take one clear step toward changing it.

Legends of the Gridiron Football Camp Rescheduled
Our free football camp for student athletes ages 6 to 13, coached by NFL Legends, has been rescheduled to August 22nd. Same great day of coaching, mentorship, and fun — new date locked in. Brotherhood in Motion: Charlotte
Our brother Leonard Wheeler is hosting the inaugural Brotherhood in Motion event — a men's-only gathering built around food, drinks, and honest conversation. Open to men ages 25+, this is a space to challenge old narratives, grow as leaders, strengthen relationships, and prioritize mental and physical well-being. Only 180–200 seats are available for this free event, so register early.

Sports Missions Outreach Golf Tournament
Derek Morris, Pat Teague, and Elbert Ellis participated in the Sports Missions Outreach Golf Tournament in Raleigh. The tournament served as a fundraiser supporting youth sports programs and opportunities.

Prime Time Scouting Youth Football Camp
Later that month, Derek Morris, Elbert Ellis, TJ Graham, alongside other former players, participated in a youth football camp at NC State, where they spoke with the young athletes and assisted with coaching throughout the camp.

Garinger Golf Classic
Our chapter supported the Garinger Golf Classic, a charity golf tournament that raises funds and resources for Garinger High School, a local Title I school in Charlotte. We had a strong turnout of former NFL players, including Mathu Gibson, Lee Rousan, Matthias Farley, Tony Washington, Mike Jones, Chris Davenport, Charles Arbuckle, Mike Dempsey, Donnell Wolford, Troy Pelshak, Robert Massey, and Deveron Harper. Our members participated in the tournament, supported its fundraising efforts, and helped strengthen relationships with the school and the broader Charlotte community.
